Terms & Acceptable Use

Terms of Service

Last updated: August 10, 2026

These terms govern your use of BoreasTUN and the uWAN applications. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

In short
  • Use the service lawfully — you are responsible for everything done through your account.
  • Abuse, attacks, spam, and unauthorised access are prohibited and end in termination.
  • One account per person; don't share credentials or resell access.
  • We don't log your browsing. That is not a shield for abuse we can otherwise detect.

Acceptable use

BoreasTUN is a privacy tool, not a shield for abuse. We built it so that ordinary people can use the internet without being profiled — and abuse of the network directly threatens that, because it gets our address space blocked and degrades the service for everyone using it legitimately.

The following are prohibited. This list is illustrative, not exhaustive.

Attacks and network abuse
  • Denial-of-service or amplification attacks of any kind
  • Port scanning, vulnerability scanning, or penetration testing of systems you do not own or have written authorisation to test
  • Botnet command-and-control, malware distribution, or ransomware operations
  • Intrusion attempts, credential stuffing, or brute-force authentication attacks
Unsolicited messaging and fraud
  • Sending spam, bulk unsolicited email, or operating open relays
  • Phishing, spoofing, or impersonating another person or organisation
  • Payment fraud, carding, or money laundering
  • Click fraud, ad fraud, or artificially manipulating traffic metrics
Illegal and harmful content
  • Child sexual abuse material — reported to authorities without notice, always
  • Content that infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
  • Trafficking in stolen data, credentials, or illegal goods
  • Harassment, stalking, threats of violence, or incitement to violence
Service integrity
  • Reselling, sublicensing, or reassigning access without written permission
  • Sharing account credentials, or operating one account for multiple people
  • Circumventing usage limits, tier restrictions, or server assignment controls
  • Reverse engineering, or interfering with the operation of the network or other users' access
  • Compiling or redistributing lists of our server IP addresses

How we enforce this

We do not log your browsing activity, and nothing here changes that — see our Privacy Policy. We are, however, able to act on abuse reports from third parties, on complaints from upstream network providers, and on aggregate signals such as traffic volume and protocol-level patterns that do not require inspecting your traffic.

When we determine that an account has violated these terms, we may suspend or terminate it, with or without notice depending on severity, and without refund. Where the law requires it — child sexual abuse material above all — we report to the relevant authorities.

If you believe your account was actioned in error, contact us and we will review it.

Your account

You are responsible for your account

All activity conducted through your account is your responsibility, including activity by anyone you allow to use it. Keep your credentials confidential and tell us immediately if you believe they have been compromised.

Accurate registration

Provide a real email address you control and keep it current. We use it for verification, security notices, and service announcements. Accounts registered with false information may be suspended.

Local law is your responsibility

VPN use is restricted or regulated in some jurisdictions. You are responsible for determining whether your use of the service is lawful where you are, and for complying with the laws that apply to you.

Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction if higher, to create an account.

The service

Availability

We work to keep the network available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Servers may be added, removed, or taken offline for maintenance. Performance depends on factors outside our control, including your own network conditions.

Fair use

Free and trial tiers carry limits on the number of assigned servers and on usage. We may apply reasonable limits to protect service quality for everyone. Deliberately circumventing those limits is a violation of these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms as the service and its regulatory environment change. Material changes will be announced by email or in the app. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.

Ending your account

You may stop using the service and request deletion of your account at any time. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms, and may discontinue the service with reasonable notice.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. No VPN can make you anonymous, and we make no claim that it does.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your use of the service in breach of these terms or of applicable law.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law.

Contact and abuse reports

Questions about these terms, or reporting abuse originating from our network:

Email:support@uwan.app

Abuse reports are reviewed promptly. Include timestamps in UTC, the source IP address, and any logs you can share — that is what lets us identify the responsible account without inspecting anyone’s traffic.
